Bangs secures 10 berths in regional track meet field

SONORA – The Bangs Dragons and Lady Dragons combined to earn 10 berths into the Region I-2A track and field meet based on Thursday’s performances at the District 7-2A/8-2A meet.

Advancing to regionals as area meet champions are the Lady Dragons 4×100 relay team of Raylee Hutchins, Kasey Solis, Joey Newton, and Abby Wolf; the Dragons’ 4×100 relay team of Keygan Pitts, Tyson Woods, Hunter Newton, and Guy Powell; the Dragons’ 4×200 relay team of Newton, Woods, Powell, and Pitts; Powell in the boys 100 meters; and Solis in the girls 200 meters.

Moving on as area meet bronze medalists are the Lady Dragons’ 4×200 relay of Hutchins, Newton, Solis, and Wolf; and Solis in both the girls long jump and girls triple jump.

Punching their tickets with fourth-place efforts were Wolf in the girls long jump and Kenny Cole in the boys 110-meter hurdles

The Region I-2A track and field meet will take place April 28-29 at West Texas A&M in Canyon.
