12 Lady Lions receive all-district soccer accolades in 5-4A

A dozen members of the Brownwood Lady Lions soccer team received postseason accolades from the coaches of District 5-4A, which were revealed Friday morning.

Leading the charge for the Lady Lions was Midfield MVP Ataleigh Constancio, a senior who was also a first-team selection and the co-Silver Boot winner for most assists in district with 12.

Fellow senior Kennedi Johnson was co-Golden Boot winner as she tied for the most goals in district play with 17, and also received first-team all-district status.

Other Lady Lions named to the first team were Ibis Alvarado, Reagan Ratliff and Jasmine Gibbs.

Second-team choices from Brownwood included Molly Oliver, Alma Bernal and Braycee Lee.

Receiving honorable mention for the Lady Lions were Jacklyn Lewis, Addison Pesina, Mariah Young, and Noemi Ceniceros.

Academic all-district honorees for the Lady Lions were Alvarado, Bernal, Ceniceros, Constancio, Gibbs, Johnson, Lee, Lewis, Oliver, Pesina, Ratliff, Sidney Adkins, Adrianna Allen, Ava Brownlee, Hannah Deen, Icess Hall, Adryanna Huerta, Shailey Humphries, and Priscilla Sanchez.

Other superlative award winners included MVP Tori Cameron of Stephenville, which reached the state championship game before falling to Celina; Offensive MVP Haley Piatak of Salado; Defensive MVP Mackenzie Gonzalez of Stephenville; Goalkeeper MVP Nyla Long of Lampasas; Freshman of the Year Reese Lang of Salado; Offensive Newcomer of the Year Tania Sanchez of Stephenville; Defensive Newcomer of the Year Karlee Sutherland of China Spring; Co-Golden Boot winner Tori Cameron of Stephenville; Co-Silver Boot winner Shelby Hollywood of Salado; and Coach of the Year Justin Rhodes of Stephenville.

The Lady Lions finished with a 16-6-1 overall record, finished third in District 5-4A, and captured a 14th consecutive bi-district championship under third-year head coach Alexis Mosqueda.
