BANGS – The Bangs Dragons’ five-game win streak came to an abrupt conclusion Friday night as the No. 5 Tolar Rattlers remained perfect with a 57-0 victory in a battle of the final two undefeated teams in District 5-2A Division I action.

Scoreless through one quarter, Bangs (5-3, 3-1) yielded 29 points to Tolar (8-0, 4-0) in the second period alone. The Rattlers tacked on 14 more points in the third period, and their final two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

The Dragons were limited to 191 yards of total offense – 101 rushing and 90 passing – with three turnovers.

Guy Powell rushed for 108 yards on 24 carries, but Keygan Pitts managed just 1 yard on his lone carry and quarterback Kenny Cole finished with -8 yards following seven rush attempts.

Through the air, Cole completed 13 of 28 passes for 90 yards with one interception. Guy Funk hauled in five catches for 46 yards trailed by Skylar Minshew with three for 23, Nate Stoffer with two for 13, Powell with two catches for -2 yards, Hunter Newton with one for 7 yards and Zack Ferguson caught one pass for 3 yards.

Powell also led the Bangs defense with 13 tackles followed Stoffer and Ethan Ethridge with eight apieceS, seven by Pitts and six by Braydon Fields.

Additional information on Tolar’s performance was not available. If received, this story will be updated over the weekend.

Next week, the Dragons travel to Hamilton (4-4, 2-2), which knocked off De Leon, 35-20, in a critical battle for playoff seeding in the District 5-2A Division I race.
