The City of Early received a record high sales tax allocation from the State of Texas in September.  The allocation of $243,085 broke the previous record of $225,966, received in June of this year.  The September sales tax allocation completes the sales tax receipts for the fiscal year for all three cities in Brown County.  Sales taxes allocations in September reflect retail sales in July 2022.  Details below.

CITY OF BROWNWOOD

The City of Brownwood received $535,389 in September, an increase of 0.29% over September 2022.  The final fiscal year-to-date (October 2021 through September 2022) total was $6,715,181, an increase of 4.59%.

The Brownwood Municipal Development District received $176,446 in September, an increase of 0.41% over September 2021.  The final fiscal year-to-date total was $2,185,172, an increase of 5.31%.

CITY OF EARLY

The City of Early received $243,085 in September, an increase of 30.75% over September 2021.  The final fiscal year-to-date total was $2,407,358, a decrease of 10.80%. *

The Early Municipal Development District received $80,360 in September, an increase of 36.56% over September 2021.  The final fiscal year-to-date total was $789,341, an increase of 3.28%.

(* The decrease in the year-to-date total is a result of extra industrial sales taxes which were allocated to Early in August of last year, as a result of an audit.  The extra allocation was not received this year.  If you exclude August, the eleven-month total for Early was up 45.90%.)

City Administrator Tony Aaron commented:  “This September breaks a record that we set earlier in the year for the highest sales tax collection in one month for the City of Early.  So we have broken the record twice ever for the City of Early.  We think that 30% increase is a good boost that reiterates what we have seen in our economy, just an overall growth in all the different (economic) sectors.”

CITY OF BANGS

The City of Bangs received $16,519 in September, an increase of 4.74% over September 2021.  The final fiscal year-to-date total was $227,472, an increase of 10.14%.

The Bangs Municipal Development District received $2,538, an increase of 7.09% over September 2021.  The final fiscal year-to-date total was $33,407, an increase of 9.11%.
