A graveside funeral service for Arleta Gary, age 85, of Brownwood, will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the Jordan Springs Cemetery.  A reception will follow at the Brownwood Country Club.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 15, 2022, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.

Arleta M. Gary (known to many as “Grannie”) passed away on January 8, 2022. Born in Portales, NM to the late Claude and Ann Gary, Arleta was one of five children. She graduated from Post High School and married Dale Holleman in 1955.

Active and spunky, Arleta loved all sports and traveled all over Texas to watch her children and grandchildren compete in their many athletic events. She loved board and card games and could always be counted on to join a rousing game of Mexican train, dominos, or cards. Among her many endeavors, dear to her heart were the Red Hat Society and Lady Raiders basketball. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brownwood; first and foremost, in her life were her faith, her Church and her love for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Arleta was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Ann Gary, a son, Bart Holleman, and siblings James Earl Gary, Billy Wayne Gary, Bonnie Ethel Duren and Linda Ann Gordon.

She is survived by her children, sons Wayne Holleman, Blake Holleman and wife Leslie all of Brownwood, daughter Angela Hellums and her husband Jay of Bastrop, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, along with a multitude of dear friends across the country.

Condolences, memories, and tributes can be offered to the Holleman family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net.
