Four COVID deaths, record 344 positive results this week

In the last seven days, the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department received 344 positive COVID-19 test results, resulting in a record high number of positive cases recorded since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Of the 344 positives this week, 152 were PCR, and 192 were antigen.  There are 19 people currently hospitalized in Brown County for COVID-19. Four new deaths have been reported: One female in her 30s, one female in her 40s, one female in her 70s, one male in his 80s, none are from nursing facilities.  

Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood is operating a COVID-19 screening clinic with no cost testing. Individuals should text “covidhelp” to 325-216-4824 to utilize this service.

COVID-19 Vaccinations for Brown County:

  • People with at least one dose – 14232 (284 additional)

  • People fully vaccinated –  12204 (329 additional)

  • Percentage of people 12+ fully vaccinated – 37.10%

30,883 is the estimated number of Brown County residents eligible for vaccination.

The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department has scheduled several COVID-19 vaccination clinics throughout the month of September. There is no fee to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Walk-ins will be welcome at the scheduled clinics during September. Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations will be offered at the clinics.

 

The clinics scheduled for September are as follows:

 

  • Thursday, September 9th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Adams Street Community Center, located at 511 E. Adams Street, next to the Brownwood Public Library.

  • Thursday, September 16th, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Adams Street Community Center, located at 511 E. Adams Street, next to the Brownwood Public Library.

  • Saturday, September 25th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Health Department, located at 510 E. Lee Street.

  • Thursday, September 30th, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Adams Street Community Center, located at 511 E. Adams Street, next to the Brownwood Public Library.

 

COVID-19 vaccinations are also available at no cost at the Health Department at 510 E. Lee Street Monday-Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4:45 p.m.
