The City of Brownwood posted the following on Facebook Thursday afternoon:

A false emergency alert was issued for an immediate evacuation of Brown County due to an incident in Sommervell County.

Both the Sheriff Department of Sommervell County and the Texas Department of Emergency Management have confirmed there was no incident and no evacuation order issued.

Local emergency management staff are working to determine the source of the false emergency alert issued on cable.
