Maria Bernal, 77 (Santa Anna)

Maria Bernal, age 77, of Santa Anna, Texas passed from this life to be with her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 3:07 pm at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

Services will be Saturday at 1:00 pm at Santa Anna Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Raul Lopez officiating with services under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.  The family will receive friends for visitation Friday from 5:00 till 6:30 pm at Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.

She was born Maria Venancio on August 28, 1943 in Castanos, Mexico to Marcelino and Rosa Romero Venancio.  Maria was a longtime resident for 46 years of Junction, Texas.  On February 17, 1965 Maria married Antonio Bernal in Castanos, Mexico and they have celebrated 55 years of a loving marriage.

Maria was a dedicated member of the Codero Baptist Church very active in church helping others.  She has been a resident of Santa Anna since 1990 giving her time to her family as a housewife, mother and grandmother.  Maria loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, also gardening with her vegetables and beautiful flowers but mostly devoting her time to God’s word in Bible Study. 

Survivors include husband – Antonio Bernal of Santa Anna, Texas; 2 daughters – Carlota Govea of Santa Anna, Texas and Maria Elvira Villarreal of Brownwood, Texas; 2 sons – Julio Bernal of Santa Anna, Texas and Richard Lee Bernal of Santa Anna, Texas; 2 Sisters – Sebe Garza of Coleman, Texas and Maria De Jesus of Mexico; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren

 Maria was preceded in death by her son Armondo Bernal in 2017; and by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
