Oscar Ervin McWhorter, 94 (Hamilton)

Oscar Ervin McWhorter, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, in Hamilton, Texas.

He was born on May 15, 1926, in Lytton Springs, Texas, to Oscar and Elizabeth (McCarty) McWhorter.  Ervin served in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946.  On April 9, 1949, he was united in marriage to Francis Louise Mathis in Lockhart, Texas.  She preceded him in death on May 9, 2000.  He was a talented brick and stone mason by trade, but loved baseball, hunting, fishing, gardening and all things outdoors.  Ervin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his daughter, Monica Dudley and husband Ray of Comanche; sons, Eric McWhorter and wife Karen of Lubbock, and Phillip McWhorter and wife Kim of Denison; grandsons, Tyler Dudley and wife Nicole, Jordon Dudley and wife Lori, Cameron Dudley and wife Melisa, Cole McWhorter, Michael McWhorter and wife Cassie; granddaughters Grace Taylor and husband Mark, Erica McWhorter, Amber Nicole Hope and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Rhett, Ray, Rylan, Haydon, Jordan, Olivia, Vivian, Samuel, Landon, Ella, Reid, Hannah, and Leyton.  He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Elizabeth McWhorter.

No formal visitation has been scheduled.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 16, 2020, at Sardis Cemetery in Comanche County, with Tim Mangrum officiating.  Condolences may be offered on line at www.comanchefh.com
