GLEN ROSE – Leading throughout much of the contest and carrying a one-point lead into the fourth quarter, the Brownwood Lady Lions were unable to complete their upset bid as the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches No. 6 Glen Rose Lady Tigers rallied for a 36-32 victory in Tuesday’s District 6-4A opener for both squads.

Glen Rose (18-1, 1-0) was limited to single digits in every quarter but the fourth, where the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Lions (7-9, 1-1) by a 16-11 margin. Brownwood trailed 8-6 after one quarter but grabbed an 18-14 halftime edge.

The Lady Lions shot (36 percent) from the floor, 30 percent (4 of 13) beyond the three-point arc, and 100 percent (2 of 2) at the free throw line. Brownwood also grabbed 22 rebounds, collected 10 steals and committed just 14 turnovers.

Tessa Goodwin led the Brownwood effort with 15 points followed by Brooke Price with five, Mady Pyle and Lindsey Larose with three apiece, and Alexa Arreloa, Kynslee Walker and Jaylen Savage with two points each.

Brownwood opens the home portion its district slate at 6 p.m. Friday against Texas Girls Coaches Association No. 13 Lampasas (16-3, 0-1), which was upset by Gatesville (4-9, 1-0) by a 55-49 count Tuesday night.
