Brownwood High School is sending six individuals to the Region I-4A cross country meet based on their performances at the District 6-4A meet in Lampasas Wednesday.

Four Lions earned regional berths – Caleb Nelson, Cameron Phipps, Evan Fraze and Aden Solis – along with a pair of Lady Lions – Emma Stegemoller and CarolAnn Hetzel.

This year, based on the UIL’s COVID-19 guidelines, the top two teams and top 10 individuals not on one of the qualifying teams advance from district to regionals.

Nelson placed seventh overall in a time of 17:58, Phipps was 14th in a time of 19:29, Fraze came in 17th in a time of 19:43, and Solis finished 23rd in a time of 20:29.9.

Stegemoller came in seventh running a 13:43.3 while Hetzel was 24th in a time of 14:45.4.

The Lions finished third as a team with 82 points, right behind regional qualifiers Gatesville (28 points) and Stephenville (40 points).

The Lady Lions came in fifth as a team with 116 points which left them behind regional qualifiers Gatesville (41) and Stephenville (55), as well as Lampasas (58) and Glen Rose (92).

Also competing for the Lions at district were Andrew Boren (2th, 21:06.4), Vincent Floyd (27th, 21:13.5) and Hunter Glass (30th, 21:33.3).

Other Lady Lions running Wednesday included Alli Touhakis (27th, 15:17.4), Taylor Pickney (30th, 15:50), Ava Brownlee (31st, 15:51.3) and Adryanna Huerta (33rd, 16:28.7).

The Region I-4A meet will take place Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
