Ira Cullins

A graveside funeral service for Ira Cullins, age 72, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 30, 2020, in the Rocky Creek Cemetery, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 7:00.

Mr. Cullins died on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Ira Omer Cullins, Jr. was born on March 18, 1948 in Coleman to Ira Omer, Sr. and Violet (Sluder) Cullins.  He was raised in the Coleman and Santa Anna area.  He served his country in the US Navy.  Ira attended McMurry University, where he met and fell in love with Judy Goedeke. They were married on February 24, 1968.

Ira had a long career with Superior Cable in Brownwood.  He also enjoyed fishing, singing karaoke, travelling, playing his X-Box and being a jokester.  He was most happy when he was square dancing with Judy.  He was a member of the Comanche Flutter Wheels and the Heart of Texas Callers Association, where he was the caller for square dances.

Ira is survived by a son, Dee Cullins of Brownwood, an adopted daughter, Colleen Garcia and fiancé Adam Farrell of Brownwood; five grandchildren, Ryan Herrera, Kim Herrera, Scott Garcia, Charlie Farrell and J.J. Farrell; a sister, Ann Rutherford and husband Joe of Grape Creek, three brothers, Richie Cullins and wife Paula of Plains, Robert Cullins and wife JoEllen of Brownwood and Steven Cullins and wife Marilyn of Brownwood; special friend, Tonna Clemons and family of Comanche and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ira was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Judy.
