The Brownwood Country Club Junior Golf Foundation recently presented a pair of Brownwood High School graduates with $1,000 college scholarships – Caden Reagan and James Monson.

Reagan was the valedictorian of Brownwood’s Class of 2020. He also played for the Lions varsity golf team and captured the district championship and was a regional qualifier. Reagan was also a member of the National Honor Society and Austin Avenue Church of Christ youth group. He will be furthering his education at Texas A&M University where he will major Finance.

Monson ranked in the top 10 percent of the graduating class at Brownwood High in 2020. He was a member of the Lions golf team and involved with FFA. Monson was a part of the National Honor Society and in the Lions football program. He will be furthering his education at Texas A&M and studying Animal Science.

The recent Big 3 Man Scramble held at the Brownwood Country Club raised $11,300 going toward the Brownwood Country Club Junior Golf Foundation. The Brownwood Country Club Junior Golf Foundation works hand in hand with the Brownwood Country Club Golf Association to fund junior golfers around Brown County and to raise enough money year in and year out to reward two $1,000 scholarships.

The Brownwood Country Club would like to extend a special thank you to James Cooley and Highway Auto, as well as Michael Coppic with A1 Locksmith, and Crab Pitts with Pitts Stop Porta Pottys, for cooking on the course and raising money and donating their time to help the junior golfers. We have built amazing community support around our new Junior Golf Foundation. We can not thank Cory Kirk, Ajay Kirk and their pro shop workers Joey Kirk, and Morgan Thomasson. Thank you to all of the sponsors and workers that donated their time this weekend to benefit the junior Golfers. We are now looking forward to our big 2 Man Labor Day Match Play Tournament that the beneficiary will be James Crow! We look forward to it and hope for a wonderful turnout!
