Julia Stanke-Yancy went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020, at the age of 80, surrounded by her family.
Graveside Services for Julia will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Eastlawn Memorial Park with Bro. Tim Skaggs and Ricky Cavitt officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Julia was born on August 15, 1939, to Beutel and Idarene (Shaver) Luker in Eastland, Texas. She graduated from Brownwood High in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart, Jack Stanke Sr., that year. In her younger years Julia worked as a telephone operator. Some years later she joined her husband, Jack Sr., in managing and operating the family’s business, “Signs by Stanke”.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love knew no boundaries. She would often tell her grandchildren’s friends “just call me Grandmother” and everyone was always welcome in their home. Julia’s love for her family and friends was only surpassed by her love for Jesus. Her favorite scripture was Romans 8:28 “and we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
She loved to cook, especially for family and friends. Julia had a special gift for oil and china painting. She loved to sew and tend to her yard and flower gardens.
Julia was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Jack Stanke Sr.; 2nd husband, Wayland Yancy; grandson, Elias Stanke; parents, Beutel and Idarene Luker; and 1 brother, Billy Gail Luker.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Jack Stanke Jr. and wife Tammy of Brownwood, Britt Stanke and wife Marilyn of Brownwood; daughter, Jennifer Stanke Bannowsky and husband Fred of Baird; 7 grandchildren, Shaily Stanke Soto and husband Oscar, April Stanke, Isaiah Stanke, Jonathan Stanke, Heather Wilson and Leslie, Kristen Stanke and Luke Bannowsky; 4 great-grandchildren, Skylar Stanke, River Wilson, Eleanor Soto and Scout Wilson; her brother, Floyd Luker and wife Peggy of Montana. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cogging Ave Baptist Church missions. Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
