Barbara Lee Brincefield, 79, of Livonia, MI, died Sunday, July 26, 2020 in Brownwood from complications resulting from Covid-19 and a long-term battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
A family memorial will be held at a later date with Father Michael Mobley officiating. Cremation will be under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood.
Barbara was born November 15, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Arthur Watson Brincefield and Stella Gauldin Brincefield. She graduated from Mackenzie High School in Northwest Detroit where she made lifelong friends. After a long career in medical records with the Henry Ford Hospital, The Michigan Cancer Society, and the Detroit Medical Center, she retired in 2006. She was a member of the Riverford Heights Reformed Church in Livonia, MI. In 2014, Barbara moved to Brownwood to be closer to her family.
An avid mystery book reader, Barbara also enjoyed playing cards, bowling with her league, collecting crafts, listening to music, and cheering on her favorite sports team: the Detroit Tigers. Barbara loved traveling, including to the Pacific Northwest and Canada. She made frequent trips to visit extended family in Virginia, and for 36 years, she spent every Christmas with her family in Texas. Her favorite place, though, was her home state of Michigan with its beautiful lakes and dramatic seasons. A longtime dog lover, Barbara brought home several beloved dogs from the Michigan Humane Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Stella Brincefield, and by long time friend, William Magee.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Brincefield and his wife, Carol Ann, of Brownwood, niece, Carrie Brincefield Morrow and her husband, Eric, of Stephenville, grand-nephew, Grayson Morrow, also of Stephenville, many cousins in Virginia and Washington, DC, and her special, long time friends of seventy years, Lynda Magee and Marlene and Lonnie Cooper of Michigan.
Barbara’s ashes will be placed near her parents at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan at a later date.
