8 youth, 10 staff members at Ron Jackson test positive for COVID

The Texas Juvenile Justice Department provided the following updates Tuesday night related to COVID-19:

• 8 youth at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex, in Brownwood, tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. The results were from the campus-wide testing.

• 10 youth at the McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility, in Mart, tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. The results were from the campus-wide testing.

• 1 youth from the Giddings State School tested positive for COVID-19 this afternoon.

• 3 staff members and 3 Youth Development Coaches at the McLennan County State Juvenile Facility tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. The results were from the campus-wide testing.

• 3 staff members and 7 Youth Development Coaches at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. The results were from the campus-wide testing.

• 1 Youth Development Coach at the Giddings State School tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday afternoon.

• 1 Youth Development Coach at the Evins Regional Juvenile Center tested positive for COVID-19 this morning.

• 1 Youth Development Coach at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex tested positive this evening. That test result was not part of campus-wide testing.

Since the start of the pandemic, 152 staff members at the agency’s secure facilities have tested positive for COVID-19:

Evins Regional Juvenile Center: 51

Gainesville State School: 8 Giddings State School: 37

McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility

Since the start of the pandemic, 163 youth at the agency’s secure facilities have tested positive for COVID-19:

Evins Regional Juvenile Center: 24

Gainesville State School: 13

Giddings State School: 75

McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility: 41

Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex: 10
