Brownwood News – Howard Payne University recently received a gift of $25,000 in scholarship funds from the James and Dorothy Doss Foundation, Inc., administered through TexasBank. The contribution was made to a fund established by the Doss Foundation and TexasBank in 2017 to help deserving students from the Heart of Texas area attend HPU.

Greg Dodds, TexasBank president and chief executive officer, presented the donation to Dr. Cory Hines, HPU president.

“This contribution will help numerous students from our area attend Howard Payne University,” said Dr. Hines. “The HPU family is very appreciative of the generosity of the Doss Foundation and TexasBank and is confident of the impact this donation will make in students’ lives.”

TexasBank is a community bank serving customers in Brown, Comanche, Eastland and Erath Counties as well as all neighboring counties. TexasBank has 10 banking centers in the area.

“TexasBank is proud of its contributions towards helping those in our local communities pursue a higher education,” said Dodds. “We are even more proud of partnership with Howard Payne and the role that it continues to play in providing a quality college education based on a solid spiritual foundation. It is comforting to know that Howard Payne is helping develop young men and women to become future leaders of our community, state and nation.”
