Mary Lynn Taylor, age 78, of May, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at Abilene Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday July 6, 2019 at Salt Creek Baptist Church in Early with Pastor Jimmie Mize officiating. A private burial service for family will follow at Heflin Cemetery in May. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday July 5, 2019 at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
Mary Lynn was born December 24, 1940 in El Paso, the Daughter of Leonard G. and Ruby Nell Carroll. She grew up and attended schools in Denver City Texas. It was there she met Norton Taylor who had recently completed his service with the Air Force.
The two married on June 29, 1957 in Denver City. They celebrated their 62nd anniversary last Saturday with a steak dinner at the Section Hand. Shortly after they married, Norton joined the Highway Patrol and her life as the wife of a State Trooper took her on stints from Sierra Blanca to the Guadalupe Mountains, then Baird, Breckenridge, McAllen, Del Rio, and eventually to the Brownwood area where they have resided for the last 45 years.
Mary Lynn finished her work career as a legal secretary with the District Attorney’s office before retiring. MiMi as her grandkids called her had a special love for her children, grandkids, great-grandkids, and her beloved dog Minnie. After retirement she spent years following her passion of Flea Marketing where she met many of her closest friends. She loved to paint and associate with her friends from the art club. She was a proud member of the Women’s Republican Club and worked to instill those conservative values in all those around her until the day she died. She loved her church family at the Salt Creek Baptist Church where she had been a member for over 20 years.
Mary Lynn is survived by her Husband Norton Taylor of May; two Daughters, Cindy Laird and Husband Allan of Dallas, Dana Grady and Husband Billy of Brownwood; one son, Kevin Taylor and wife Sandra of Glen Rose; six Grandchildren, Stacy Laird, Cody Grady, Casey Grady, Torrie Poehls and Husband Justin, Megan Grady and Ty Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Lainey Kaye Butler, Tripp Grady, Tex Burrow and MacGregor Poehls.
