A graveside funeral service for Kathy Powers, age 69, of Georgetown, formerly of Brownwood, will be held at 10am Friday in the Energy Cemetery in Comanche County under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

The family will receive friends tonight at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00.

Joy Kathy McAlister Powers was born on May 19, 1949 in Hobart, Oklahoma. She grew up in Ozona, Texas and later resided in Comanche, Brownwood, Austin and finally Georgetown. She was a loving mother, sister, and especially grandmother. Her two grandbabies were the light of her life and will forever have a guardian angel Grandma watching over them. Her friends and family often called her a Lady…and that she certainly was. She will be forever missed.

Kathy worked at the Texas Employment Commission in Brownwood for 20 years and retired from the Austin Fire Department after 6 years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Vonita McAlister Powers, her father, Victor Verdell McAlister and her step-father, Ray Powers.

Kathy is survived by her two sisters, Judy Slankard of Brownwood and Janet Scott of Rogers, AR. Also, her son, Mickell Powers Moss, son-in-law, Kevin Moss and two grandchildren, Major & Hillary Moss all of Georgetown. Also, numerous cousins and nieces.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
