Funeral services for Bobby Nelson, age 67, of Bangs, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Bangs Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Bobby left this life for a more beautiful one on Saturday, April 21, 2018 in Brownwood.

Bobby Frank Nelson was born on April 5, 1951 in Coleman to F.W. “Buck” and Betty (King) Nelson.

Bobby was a simple man, but he loved life immensely, was a selfless caregiver to everyone, always putting others first.  He loved all kinds of sports, music, animals, chili cookoffs, fishing, hunting and bird watching.  He had an appreciation of architecture which led to a life working in construction.  He spent many years with Waldrop Construction and Gene Doss Construction, where he worked all over Texas.

Bobby married his soulmate, Cheryl Reed, on June 29, 1986, in San Angelo, and began a lifetime of fun and adventure.  Together they brought into this world two children, Sonja and Buck, whom he loved dearly and was so proud of.

Bobby served for three years in the U.S. Army, Company C, 46th Engineering Group.  He also served as a member of American Legion Post #308 in Bangs.  He was a proud Texan, loved his flags and his country.

The last eight years he has been employed by the Texas Military Department at Camp Bowie.

Bobby is survived by his son Buck, daughter, Sonja; grandchildren, Madison, Keedan, Marleigh and a soon to be born grandson; a sister, Betty and her husband of Grape Creek; a brother, Billy Nelson and his wife of Brownwood; his special friend, Shelia Seider and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Buckley, and his wife Cheryl.

Condolences, memories and tribute can be shared with the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
