Brown County Sheriff’s Office Reports: February 12, 2018

Brownwood News – Brown County Sheriff’s Office reports released Monday, February 12, 2018. All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Blotter information compiled from local law enforcement reports and jail records. If charges are dismissed or the accused is found not guilty, people listed here can contact Brownwood News and provide us with documentation.   • A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was investigating multiple illegal dumping complaints in an area near Belfast Drive, when he observed an additional violation. The deputy made contact with the property owner and explained the violations and possible solutions. A Warning Citation for the violations was also issued.
  • A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to CR 113 in the North West portion of the county in regards to two tractor tires being dumped in the bar ditch. There were no identifying marks or information located on the tractor tires. The county road crew loaded up the tires for proper disposal.
  • Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Rodriguez was dispatched to a residence in Early in regards to an accidental weapon discharge. After further investigation, a male subject accidently shot himself in the foot with a pistol. A report was made.
  • Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Rodriguez responded to a service call from the Brown County Jail regarding a fight between two inmates. Injuries were observed and reported.
  • On February 10th, Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Simpson initiated a motor assist at FM 45 and Vick Drive for a black Chevrolet extended cab pickup. Upon making contact with the driver, identified in the report as Jaime Contreras, the deputy noted the driver’s eyes were “bloodshot and glassy.” Deputy Simpson performed the horizontal gaze nystagmus test on Contreras to check for signs of impairment. Contreras failed the test, and also consented to a search of the vehicle. A marijuana shaker and marijuana residue were first located inside the vehicle, along with two open containers. Deputy Mathis located a baggie of marijuana where Contreras was standing when the search had begun. Jaime Contreras was arrested for Tampering with Evidence and Possession of Marijuana. An additional baggie of marijuana was located as Contreras was being transported to the Brown County Jail.
  • Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Marvin Simpson responded to a call from Main Street in Blanket regrind a domestic disturbance. A report for Assault Causing Bodily Injury/Family Violence was made.
