Brownwood News – A fundraising concert, “Rock the Light,” will be held on Saturday, June 10th, beginning at noon at 309 3rd Street in Brownwood. Funds raised will help establish “The Light Club,” an entertainment venue for area youth.

Rock the Light will feature Justin Gambino along with Atomic Apostle in concert and other musicians during the day. The club is asking a $3 donation (minimum) at the door, and volunteers will be selling a BBQ plate lunch/dinner with a drink included for $9. Hot dogs will be sold for $1 and drinks and popcorn will be available for 50¢ each.

“The Light Club will be opened on weekends at night and geared to provide a safe environment for events, programs, spiritual and intellectual growth for our teens and young adults,” says event organizer, Jodie Armstrong with Brownwood Music.

“It will be a place to hang out, have fun, but not be influenced by the world’s standards. Kids can play pool, play games, do homework, or just belong. Our teens and preteens need a place.”

Justin Gambino, pictured at top, is a songwriter, performer, and recording artist from Houston. Gambino was homeschooled, and raised in the Christian faith. He began his musical pursuits by playing the guitar, singing, and eventually moving on to lead worship in his church with the youth group.

While attending Brazosport College, in Richwood, Gambino left to serve an eight year enlistment term with the U.S. Navy, where he toured in Iraq as a United States Seabee it NMCB (Naval Mobile Construction Battalion) Twenty Eight in 2007.

When faced with the decision to re-enlist or to leave the Navy, Gambino chose to follow his passion for music and ministry. Tate Music Group out of Oklahoma helped him make his decision when they called him with a record deal to sign several months after submitting the original, “Your Love Runs Deep” from the album “Shadows” by Shattered Silence (released Feb 4th, 2014).

Gambino’s recent release – “Where I Belong” is now available on hard copy and digitally worldwide.
