The Center for Life Resources Center held a ceremony on Tuesday, October 25th, at 10 a.m. to honor the VFW Post 3278 members for their work to contribute to the center and the resources available for the community, specifically the center’s Autism services.

Center for Life Board CEO, Dion White, unveiled a special Wall of Honor plaque to be displayed near the entry of the board room in the center, which featured notable individuals and businesses that had made significant contributions to the center.

“The names you see on this have gone above and beyond to positively impact individuals we serve. It is through gifts of time and resources that Wall of Honor recipients truly make a difference,” explained White. “I’m very proud to induct our newest members on the Wall of Honor for the Center for Life Resources.”

Names on the plaque included Patti Jordan – 2012, Don and Shirley Ramsey – 2012, Nancy Armstrong – 2013, Paulette Frye – 2014, Kohler Brownwood – 2015, and the newest addition to the plaque: VFW Post 3278 – 2016.

“I’m especially honored to recognize this year’s recipients because these are individuals who made the decision to place their lives in harm’s way to defend our nation through service in our forces,” White continued. “And when they returned to the civilian life, their commitment to serve our nation did not stop.”

Present during the unveiling were Auxiliary President, Debbie Daniel, Historian Mary (Pete) Reynolds, Post Chaplain Billy Murphy, post member Kenneth Robinson, Post Quartermaster Cindi Webb, Post Autism Chairperson Keith King, and Post Commander James Masters.

A total of 32 iPads and 1 Android Tablet have been donated to the Center for Life specifically for the center’s autism program through fundraising efforts by the VFW Post. The devices help individuals with autism adapt to the community, increase communication skills, and encourage personal growth.

The VFW Post 3278 members present revealed a surprise of their own as the ceremony drew to a close by presenting a 60-inch flatscreen television, a laptop, Bose speakers, a laser pointer, mounting hardware and other support equipment for a media center for educational presentations at the center.

“There’s many movies that showcase superheroes like Superman or Batman. But fortunately today, we don’t have to go to the movies. Because we can see true heroes, with us today, representing VFW Post 3278,” said White.
