BFD Fire & Rescue Reports 4/28

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of April 21-27, 2014 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 37 medical emergencies, 8 fire calls, 2 motor vehicle accidents, 2 hazardous materials calls, and 2 lift assists.

Reports of interest include:

Tuesday, April 22

*7:56 AM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the area of Parkway and Vincent Streets regarding the smell of gas in the area.  Nothing was found.

*10:38 AM – BFD responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 2200 block of Belle Plain involving a single vehicle which had struck a building.  The occupant of the vehicle was transferred by ambulance to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

*3:00 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 100 block of East Commerce Street.  Firefighters responded to an oil spill on the roadway and Texas Department of Transportation was notified.

*5:15 PM – BFD was called to a motor vehicle accident on US 377 South, 12 miles north of Brady to provide agency assistance performing an extrication from a major accident.

Thursday, April 24

*3:35 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire in the 3100 block of Milam Drive.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a smoldering fire, which fire crews then extinguished.

Friday, April 25

*4:36 AM – BFD was called to a fire in the 500 block of 7th Street.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find light smoke coming from a single story residence.  The fire had been put out with an extinguisher. Firefighters checked the structure and removed another resident.   A fan was set up to ventilate the home.

*9:30 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1000 block of West Commerce, where firefighters responded to a car fire.  Upon arrival the fire was out.

*9:02 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call.  Fire crews responded to the area and found a campfire behind Commerce Square.  Firefighters extinguished the fire and informed the citizens of burn codes.

*9:48 PM – BFD responded to a fire call in the 2300 block of Belmeade.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single story structure with nothing showing.   A small fire was found in the kitchen.  The fire was extinguished and a ventilation fan was set up to remove the smoke.

*10:05 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1200 block of High Mesa where a spoon had fallen on the dishwasher element causing smoke.

Saturday, April 26

*3:36 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1800 block of Avenue D.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find the owner standing by motorcycle.  They arrived to find the fire had been put out .

Sunday, April 27

*3:55 PM – BFD was called to a fire at a location on 4th Street.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find that wind had broken a large tree limb which had pulled electrical wires down.
