The Heart of Texas Riders motorcycle club and VFW Post 3278 teamed up recently for a fundraising ride and toy drive to benefit Brown County Toys For Kids.

The fundraising ride and toy drive took place on Saturday.  Members of the VFW and Heart of Texas Riders were able to present Toys for Kids founder Wanda Martin with many toys and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary presented a check of the funds raised during the event.

Brown County Toys for Kids is a non-profit program that offers families in need of assistance some help giving their kids, who would not otherwise get any toys, a little brighter Christmas.  Families who provide Christmas to their children with gifts of necessities such as clothing and shoes often rely on the program for extra gifts such as toys.

Monetary donations as well as toys, gift wrap, gift tags, and tape are greatly needed and can be delivered to Grand Stars (2323 Belle Plain) or mailed to Toys for Kids, P.O. Box 912, Brownwood, Texas 76804.  Other drop-off locations include Brownwood Fire Stations 1 & 2.  All proceeds benefit Brown County residents and 100% of donations received go toward the purchase of toys.  The entire season is operated by volunteers and program directors of Toys for Kids who work diligently without receiving any income for their service.

A special Non-Smoking Bingo to benefit Toys For Kids will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18th (hosted by Redmen Lodge) at Grand Starz.  So make plans to bring a friend and support Toys For Kids and the children of Brown County.

For more information about the program or to volunteer, please call 325-646-6822.  Toys For Kids is a 501 (c) (3) organization, (# 47-0947449).
