NWElemReadingParty2_2013Northwest Elementary held its annual Neighborhood Reading Party on Tuesday, September 10th.  With more than 150 in attendance, the event was a huge success according to school officials.

One highlight of the party was new Northwest Elementary librarian, Ms. Megan Blake’s reading of the book, Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies.  “Ms. Blake did an awesome job, and the children were evidently very entertained as many laughs and chuckles were heard throughout the reading process,” reported Northwest Assistant Principal, Jerry Jones.

Parents were given the opportunity to sign up their children for prizes from both the school and Family Services.  Names were drawn throughout the party until all the prizes were distributed.

Members of the PTO were busy selling memberships for the 2013-2014 year, and each teacher had attendance lists to work toward winning a pizza party that will be awarded to the class that has the most memberships sold.

New t-shirts were on sale for students and adults with a “Superman” logo on the front that includes students, staff, and the school, and a back that reads, “Northwest Elementary is Super!!”

As students and families left the party, students were able to select one free book from a table displaying books of all types and sizes.  Students were also treated to popsicles to enjoy as they headed home.
