The 13th annual Brownwood Reunion Celebration kicks off in just 3 days, but coordinators and volunteers are already hard at work making sure this year’s event is one of the best ever held in the area.

Organizers hosted their traditional volunteer rally Tuesday at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center to officially kick off Reunion week and give volunteers their assignments and t-shirts.  The Depot was decorated Hollywood style to reflect the “lights, camera, action” theme of this year’s event, and those in attendance were treated to free food courtesy of Heart of Texas EMS as well as some door prizes.

Reunion Volunteer Coordinator Rowonna McNeely says it takes a small army of volunteers each year to create a successful event and she has high hopes for this year as well.

“It usually takes between 1200 and 1500 volunteers to put everything together,” McNeely said. “We basically build a small city, run it for three days and then tear it down.”

During the Brownwood Reunion Celebration, volunteers help with tasks such as manning barricades, help with parking, running shuttles, help in food court, and countless other tasks during the three day event.

McNeely said that it is not too late to volunteer for this year’s Reunion, and signing up is just a click away.

“If you go to the website CelebrateBrownwood.com and go to the volunteer page and hit the email link, that will send your information and I will get in touch with you to volunteer,” she said.

This year’s Brownwood Reunion Celebration will be held September 20, 21, and 22.  The community-wide festival features a variety of contests, events, attractions, music, and food in addition to the main concerts.  Visit
