The Early Police Department investigated 4 accidents in less than an hour at the intersection of Early Blvd and Highway 183 North, near Heartland Mall, on Tuesday.
At 12:45 p.m. officers responded to a minor accident where two vehicles turning left from the left turn lane on Early Blvd onto Highway 183 North collided when one vehicle cut across the lane and struck the other vehicle turning left.
A second accident occurred at 1:02 p.m. when two vehicles in the outside east bound lane left the red light traveling east. One vehicle stopped to make a right turn and was struck from behind.
Immediately after the second accident occurred, a city vehicle struck the number two car involved in the second accident from behind.
The fourth accident occurred at 1:33 p.m. which involved a pickup truck and a motorcycle and resulted in one female being transported by ambulance to the hospital. According to Early Chief of Police David Mercer, officers responded to this third accident, involving injuries, where a motorcycle struck a vehicle at the traffic signal. Witnesses reported a pickup pulling a trailer ran the red light in front of the motorcycle, Mercer stated.
Traffic was blocked for a brief time in the eastbound lanes of Early Blvd and later rerouted while emergency responders treated the injured driver of the motorcycle in the roadway.
According to Mercer, the female driver of the motorcycle was transported by Guardian EMS ambulance to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of her injuries. According to Mercer, the female’s injuries were non-life threatening. The driver of the pickup was not reported to be injured.
Early Volunteer Fire Department, Early Police, Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Guardian EMS responded to the scene.
All accidents are currently being investigated.
