Early High School Band Members Recognized at Annual Banquet

The Early High School Band held its annual banquet on Friday, May 17th at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church to cap off an outstanding year.

At the banquet, directors, band members, parents, family, and friends reminisced on the successes of the year and about the great time that was had with each other. Additionally, the awards for the year were given out and the 2013 graduation class was recognized.

Louie Armstrong Jazz Award – T.J. Love

This award is given to recognize the top Jazz Band student at high schools across the nations. It is given in recognition of outstanding achievement by an instrumentalist in the field of jazz, as demonstrated through superior musicianship, character and individual creativity.

John Philip Sousa Award – Ryan Contreras

This is the highest award that a high school band can bestow on a student. It is a national award and is given to one person each year. It is given in recognition of outstanding achievement and interest in music, for singular merit in loyalty and cooperation, and for displaying those high qualities of conduct that school instrumental music requires.
