The National Weather Service in San Angelo released their assessment of the three tornadoes that touched down in Brown County on Monday, May 20th.

This tornado formed over Lake Brownwood and was briefly on the ground before lifting up as it moved east towards Owens.

Blanket tornado

This tornado blew two heavy air conditioning units off of the Blanket High School.  The twister produced roof damage to the gymnasium and a nearby bus barn.  It knocked down trees…power lines and steel fencing.  It also knocked over two tombstones at the nearby cemetery.  The tornado also snapped or uprooted oak trees that were more than 100 years old.
