Donna Jean Smith

smith_donnaDonna Jean Smith, 75, went to be with the Lord Monday January 14, 2013 at her home at Lake Brownwood. She loved her family greatly, loved the outdoors, fishing, and feeding her deer, with her guard dog, Troubles at her side.

Donna was born July 10, 1937 to Virgil and Emma Jo Davis in Oran, Missouri. Later moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico where she married Curtiss Rogers. She worked at Safe Way Grocery until retirement. After death of her husband she relocated to May, TX. She later married James W. Smith.

Donna was a Baptist and a member of Lake Brownwood Volunteer Fire Dept. and Lake Brownwood American Legion Post 470 Auxiliary.

She is survived by her sister Carolyn S. Rose of Abilene; step-sisters Beverly Cohler of Missouri and Nancy Davis of Colorado; step-daughters Diane Wells and husband Rick of Carlsbad, NM, Cheryl Covey and husband James of Odessa, TX; step-son J.D. Rogers and wife Nellie of Carlsbad, NM; grandkids Cutter Rogers and wife Krista of Carlsbad, NM, Bambi Settle and husband Tyson of Carlsbad, NM, Rachael Clayton of George West, TX, Jay Kimbley and Rhonda Vaughan of Loving, NM, James Higgs and Sarah Stone of Odessa, TX, Tiffeny Pittman of Lubbock, TX, Tara Cox and Cortney of Carlsbad, NM ; two nieces Peggy Johnson of Belen,  NM,  Libby Bruhl of Jackson, Missouri; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by husband James W. Smith; son Ricky Lynn Rogers; sister Shirley Ann Patterson; parents; step-brother Michael Davis.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday January 17, 2013 at Lake Brownwood American Legion Hall Post 470 with James Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to North Lake Brownwood Volunteer Fire Dept. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
