bledsoeFuneral Services for Ione Myrtel Bledsoe, age 89, of Brownwood will be held on Monday April 09, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood with Pastor Rodney McGlothlin officiating. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. She passed away Thursday, April 06, 2012 in Brownwood. Ione was born on February 24, 1923 in Indian Creek, Texas to Walton and Viola (Price) Allgood.

Ione graduated from Indian Creek High School in 1940. She married Milton Bledsoe on June 15, 1942 in Stark, Florida.  After his death in 1956, Ione attended Howard Payne University and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. She dedicated herself to education at Early Elementary and was employed for 34 years at Early ISD. Ione loved all kinds of sports and enjoyed coaching the girls’ basketball team in Early. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Brownwood.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by many.

Ione is survived by 2 sons, Ray Bledsoe and wife Linda of Stephenville, and Gary Bledsoe of Brownwood; 3 grandchildren, Stacy Bledsoe and partner Gilbert Delgado of Brownwood, Shane Bledsoe and Kayli Bledsoe of Stephenville; 3 great- grandchildren, Chauncey Parsons and wife Kippy,  Leah Martinez, Lanea Martinez and Logan Bledsoe; 1 great-great grandson, Kota Parsons and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Walton and Viola Allgood, her husband, Milton Bledsoe; 6 brothers, Marion William Allgood, Clyde Raymond Allgood, Joe Pinkston Allgood, Loyd Donald Allgood, Howard Eldon Allgood, and Leo Darrel Allgood; 4 sisters, Lovie Lee (Allgood) Gilmore Head, Gladys Grace (Allgood) Newton, Fay Eloise (Allgood) Brooks Ragsdale, Madia Ruth Allgood.
