Brownwood Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) Administrative Assistant Glenda England was recognized Friday at a retirement reception in her honor.  England is retiring after more than 26 years as an employee with the City of Brownwood.  Her last day will be April 1st.

The reception, held at the BEDC offices, was attended by past and present city officials, co-workers, friends and family of England.  Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes presented her with a recognition award for her retirement to show appreciation for her years of service.

“We very much appreciate Glenda’s service and all that she had done for the city,” Haynes said.

Former city manager and current BEDC President Gary Butts was also in attendance at the reception and showed his appreciation for England’s years of dedicated service to the city.

“Really, there was none better for this position than her,” Butts said. “Glenda, I want to congratulate you and thank you for a job well done all of these years.”

James Campbell, Executive Director for the BEDC, also recently announced his retirement which will take effect June 1st.   The new BEDC Executive Director Emily Crawford will start her new position on April 4th to allow for a transition period.
