champscamp2011This cheer will be heard all throughout the halls of First Baptist Church Brownwood next week as they host the 8th annual Champs Camp from Monday, March 7th through Friday March 11th.  Children from kindergarten through 6th grade will be involved in this sports-based Christian day camp designed to aid families who have a need for child care during the week of spring break.  The ministry opportunity, offered by FBC Brownwood, is spearheaded by the Children’s Ministry of the church.

Celeste Church, Interim Children’s Ministry Director at FBC, stated that Champs Camp is a time to “… show children what it means to become a Champion through Jesus Christ.”  Each day, children will be taught basic principles of four sports:  football, basketball, soccer and volleyball.  According to Rev. Joe Franklin, Minister of Education & Administration at FBC, members of the church will be the primary support mechanism for the event, but will welcome assistance from students of both Howard Payne and Lamar Universities.

Registration for the event will continue throughout this week.  Parents can pre-register their children by visiting the church website at www.fbcbrownwood.org, and clicking on the registration link.  Children can also be pre-registered by calling the church office at 646-8505.  While pre-registration is helpful, children can also be registered at the door Monday morning.

Cost for the event is $48 dollars for one child, and $43 for each additional child in a family.  Each child will need to bring a sack lunch, and should be brought to “The Brick” behind FBC Brownwood by 8:00 AM.  Hours for the day-long event are 7:45 AM to 5:15 PM, allowing parents to drop off before 8:00 AM and pick up shortly after 5:00 PM as necessary.  For more information, visit the church’s website, or call 646-8505.
