workers1Five students, who were enrolled in the Workforce Solutions summer program for youth of Central Texas, were employed at Greenleaf Cemetery this summer.

According to Trampus Valdez, grounds supervisor at Greenleaf, the four boys who worked outside were “great workers”. “They came to work on time, worked hard all day and had very positive attitudes about their work.”

Greenleaf Board President, Patti Jordan shared, that  “Because of the extra help in the maintaining  of the Greenleaf, the cemetery looks so beautiful right now. We just need a little rain.”

Claire Faetche, who has been a volunteer at Greenleaf, worked this summer as an employee of Workforce Solutions and was in the Greenleaf Office. Claire’s main job was to enter data into the cemetery’s database, but she also helped visitors find graves of their loved ones, organized and filed, and spent time doing research as she entered data.

“We really appreciate Workforce Solutions and the staff at the Texas Employment Commission who have given Greenleaf this opportunity to help in the vocational training of these young people. It has been a big help to us at the cemetery to have these additional workers for the 8 weeks of the summer,” stated Patti Jordan.
