harveyThe Lyric Performing Arts Company’s newest production will be opening this Thursday offering multiple shows through the weekend.

‘Harvey’ is a fun and witty play written by Mary Chase in 1944, but was made famous by the 1950 movie of the same name starring Jimmy Stewart and Josephine Hull.   The story is about a man whose best friend is a pooka named Harvey—in the form of a six-foot, three-and-one-half-inch tall rabbit.

Director Larry Mathis said that the cast is hard at work with rehearsals and are excited for opening night.  Mathis said that they began assembling the set on the heels of the Lyric Children Theatre Camp’s production this past weekend.

The Lyric Performing Arts Company has a reputation for high quality productions, and this one is no exception.  Those who attend will not be disappointed.

‘Harvey’ will run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (June 24,25, and 26) at 7:30pm each night and Sunday (June 27) at 2:30pm at the Dorothy McIntosh Fine Arts Center at Brownwood High School.  Tickets are $10 each and are available online at http://www.brownwoodlyrictheatre.com/ or at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce office at 600 E. Depot St.

The cast includes for this production includes:

  • Nick Ewen as Elwood P. Dowd
  • Meredith Underwood as Myrtle Mae Simmons
  • Patti Kilpatrick as Veta Louise Simmons
  • Holli Blanton as Miss Johnson
