Josephine was born on November 16, 1929 in Millersview and went into God’s loving embrace on June 19, 2010.  Her spirit of courage and integrity will live in our hearts forever. She was truly the wind beneath our wings.  She touched so many lives with her kindness, compassion, and for her love of life.  Her smile would light up any room and her love of flowers goes without saying.

Josephine married Domingo L. Garcia on May 6, 1950 in Brownwood.  She worked for many years at Tom Byrd Cleaners and as an assistant to Mrs. Wendell Mayes.  She was a lifelong and active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she served on the Ladies’ Alter Society, the Guadalupanas and took many trips with the 39 & Holding Club.  She was a lifelong resident of Brownwood and was an avid fan of the Brownwood Lions.

She was preceded in death by her father Cresencio Rodriguez, mother Josefina Aceves Rodriguez, and nephew Michael Acuna.  Immediate family survivors include her loving husband, Domingo M. Garcia, son James Garcia and wife Juanita, son Val Garcia and wife Tammy, daughter Erma J. Barrera and husband Vincent Barrera III.  Grandchildren, James Ford, Brenda Kiggans and husband Lou Kiggans, Chris Garcia, Val Garcia and wife LeeAnn Garcia, Michael Garcia, Jennifer Garcia, Brittany Barrera, and adopted grandson David Lambert.  Great-Grandchildren, Sarah Garcia, Gabriella Kiggans, Allie Garcia, Chaucer Garcia-Langbert, Carter Garcia-Langbert, Tosca Garcia-Langbert, and Valencia Kiggans.  Sisters, Mary Acuna and husband Jessie Acuna, Amelia Vasquez and husband Raymond Vasquez, Alicia Villarreal and husband Pablo Villarreal, and Olivia Farias and husband Enrique Farias.  She is also survived by the immediate family of Domingo M. Garcia, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Condolences may be offered to the family at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com

Mom, we your children will like to dedicate this poem to you.

In Memory Of Our Mother

You were a precious gift from God above,

so much beauty, grace and love.

You touched our hearts in so many ways,

your smile so bright  even on the bad days.

You heard God’s whisper calling you home,

you didn’t  want to go and leave us alone.

You loved us so much, you held on tight,

until all the strength was gone and you could no longer fight.

He had called your name twice before,

you knew you couldn’t make him wait anymore.

So you gave your hand to God and slowly drifted away,

knowing that with our love we will be together again some day.

We love you mom with all of our hearts.  Your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
