Weekly Fishing Reports for Area Lakes

fishingBelow are the fishing reports for area lakes as reported by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department this week.

Lake Brownwood

Water stained; 81 degrees; 5.43′ low. Black bass are excellent on white Bass Hogg buzzbaits, perch and craw colored R.J.A. Custom crankbaits, and redbug and watermelon seed GrandeBass Finesse worms. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are excellent on Li’l Fishies small Rat–L–Traps, and shad colored crankbaits. Crappie are excellent on Li’l Fishies and tube jigs over brush piles and off docks. Channel and blue catfish are good on cut bait over baited holes in 10 – 15 feet. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with perch and minnows.

Lake Coleman

Water murky; 80 degrees; 7.55′ low. Black bass are very good on Rat–L–Traps, spinnerbaits, and chartreuse soft plastics. Hybrid striper are fair on live shad near the park and the store. Crappie are good on minnows and Li’l Fishies at night. Channel catfish are good on trotlines baited with live perch and chicken livers. Yellow catfish are slow.

O.H. Ivie Reservoir

Water lightly stained; 78 degrees; 20.12′ low. Black bass are good on watermelon red soft plastics, shad–colored crankbaits and spinnerbaits, and live bait worked along grass lines and timber. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on live bait and chrome crankbaits. Smallmouth bass are good on shad–colored soft plastic jerkbaits and live bait along tree lines. Channel catfish are good on live and prepared bait.

Lake Proctor

Water murky; 79 degrees; 1.00′ low. Black bass are fair on crankbaits and soft plastic worms early. White bass are good on small shad and jigs. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on live shad and cut shad in the Onion Valley area. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live bait.
