Brownwood Elects New Mayor, Complete Area Final Election Results

votebuttonFinal election results are in from area races with a new mayor elected for Brownwood and a runoff in one council race.  Although voter turnout was much lower than expected overall, many of the results were definitive.

Stephen Haynes was elected as Brownwood’s new mayor taking over 57% of the vote.   H.D. Jones won the race against Steven McCrane for the Ward 1 council seat.  Ward 2 will see a runoff election on June 12th between Ed McMillian and Eddie Watson who each took 43% of the vote.  1,679 ballots were cast in the city election out of 11,838 voters that were eligible.

Incumbents won in the Brown County Water Improvement District races with Mark Campbell & Ted Simpson coming out on top.  1,100 ballots were cast out of the 7,089 eligible voters.

Incumbent Ray Bertrand kept his seat on the Early ISD school board winning over 64% of the votes. 340 ballots were cast from 2,675 eligible voters.

Three council seats were available in the City of Bangs race with Eric Bishop, Richard Perez, and Carrol Wells securing those spots. 236 ballots were cast out of the 1,219 eligible voters.

Eric Lykins & Dennis Sanchez secure the spots on the Bangs ISD School board.  377 ballots were cast out of the 4,895 eligible voters.

May voted down its proposed bond with 157 against and 105 for.
