TexasDPS_logoThe Texas Department of Public Safety released its weekly DWI statistics from its three month program geared towards stopping drunk driving.

Local law enforcement agencies began a program in October led by the Texas Department of Public Safety making Brown County a “No Refusal County.”

This program is geared towards cracking down on DWI cases in Brown County with the Texas DPS, Brownwood & Early Police Departments, and the Brown County Sheriff’s Department all participating.

Sergeant Jason Shea from the Texas DPS said that DWI related accidents are down 54% in Brown County in the last half of October compared to the same time period in October of 2008.  Shea said, ” I think this shows the program is working.”

This program is slated to run through January 15th 2010.
