FCA Red All-Stars held a lead it never surrendered in its 10-5 victory over Blue in the annual Big Country FCA All-Star Game at Morris Southall Field Thursday night.
The Red team started out with a quick 6-1 lead through the first two innings. Brownwood’s Antonio Ybarra and Austin Wright contributed to the early run scoring. Ybarra notched a pair of singles and a pair of runs while Wright, who was hit three times in all of his plate appearances, drove in a run on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning.
Wright pitched a clean inning in the third where he gave up no hits and tallied one strikeout.
The FCA Blue team added most of their runs in the fifth inning when Jim Ned’s Colby Clinkscales and Clyde’s Caden Winters added three runs on RBI singles.
The third player representing Brownwood, Noah Gonzalez, gave up one hit and garnered a pair of strikeouts in an inning of work in the seventh. Additionally, Gonzalez added the tenth and final run for the Red team on an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.
Stephenville’s Mason Weyers received the MVP award for his glovework at third base. One of the Red’s coaches was former Brownwood head coach Blake Sandford. The Blue featured Wyatt Jones from Goldthwaite and Hunter Crowell from Bangs.
