
Competing in the their second cross country meet of the season, the Brownwood Lady Lions again placed fourth while the Brownwood Lions came in 13th as a team at the Brownwood Invitational Wednesday morning at Riverside Park.
The Lady Lions, who are replacing five of seven members off last year’s seventh-place team in the state in Class 4A, finished with 172 points Wednesday, which trailed Wall (77), Abilene High (93) and Midland Greenwood (125) in the 30-team, 246-runner varsity girls field.
Competing for the Lady Lions were Rebekkah Delgado (18th, 13:19.9), Lyndi Biasiolli (32nd, 13:45.29), Ailean Palacios (39th, 13:56.12), Khloe Galvan (46th, 14:05.26), Haylee Adkins (50th, 14:09.09), and Joclyn Salazar (75th, 14:30.68)
Meanwhile, the Lions generated 338 points, which trailed Jim Ned (98), Killeen Shoemaker (98), Abilene High (146), Zephyr (177), Abilene Wylie (187), Breckenridge (190), Mason (213), San Angelo TLCA (216), San Angelo Lake View (225), Wall (239), Eula (278), Midland Greenwood (314).
Running for the Lions were Bennett Windham (17th, 17:34.12), Hayden Mair (33rd, 18:18.26), Adrian Skrhak (99th, 19:43.66), Noah Lambert (118th, 20:08.62), Gio Diaz (131st, 20:28.19), and Brayden Musick (142nd, 21:01.5)
In JV action, both the Lady Lions and Lions won team championships, and had the top finisher in each race.
The JV Lady Lions produced 40 points to outdistance runner-up Abilene High (75) in the 12-team, 137-girl field.
Jade Morin finished first for Brownwood in a time of 14:15.12 trailed by Destiny Long (5th, 14:55.48), Destiny Sharp (8th, 14:59.54), Lanie Johnson (11th, 15:05.42), Isabella Garza (15th, 15:08.87), Icess Hall (16th, 15:09.15), Montanna Ramsey (24th, 15:26.19), Riley Abernathy (53rd, 16:42.21), Nixon Johnson (82nd 17:47.9), Kylie Arocha (83rd, 17:49.13), Kynlie Lewis (87th, 18:02.5), Nylah Hall (93rd, 18:14.86), Natalie Dillard (94th, 18:21.57), Brooklyn Bouldin (107th, 19:10.14), Gale Balfour (114th, 19:35.16), Alena Bernal (115th, 19:38.64), and Madison Weckwerth (116th, 19:44.06).
In the 14-team, 117-runner JV boys competing, Brownwood tallied 62 points to edge our second-place San Angelo Lake View (69).
Reagun Munsugu crossed the finish line first of Brownwood in a time of 18:51.31, followed by Brayden Munsell (11th, 20:23.19), Valente Cardenas (17th, 20:55.8), Jonathan Solano (18th, 20:56.09), Jonathan Skrhak (19th, 20:56.52), and Kip Havens (49th, 22:41.39).
The Lions and Lady Lions will next be in action Friday, Sept. 5 at Godley.
