
EARLY – The Early Lady Horns throttled their final two opponents in the Battle on the Bayou softball tournament Saturday, recording victories of 18-0 over Winters and 20-1 over Hamlin.
In the victory over Winters, Kyleigh Caperton led the way offensively with four hits and five RBIs, followed by Aleeya McCombs with a pair of hits and four RBIs; Marissa Reedy and Harper Thornberry with two hits and an RBI apiece; Jordan Simmons, Rylee Tupin and Sydney Greaves with one hit and one RBI each; Jamie Lyon tallied two hits; and Tiffany Phelps finished with one hit.
Leslee Beard and Greaves combined on a one-hit shutout with three strikeouts and two walks.
In the win against Hamlin, Early again generated 16 hits as Caperton tallied four hits, including a home run, and three RBIs; Andie Simpson contributed three hits and five RBIs; Reedy finished with three hits and three RBIs; Lyon recorded two hits and two RBIs; Phelps also notched two hits; McCombs accounted for three RBIs with one hit; and Greaves registered one hit and one RBI.
In the circle, Caperton and Beard teamed up to surrender one run on two hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Early will host Coleman Monday at 5 p.m. in its next contest.
