
EARLY – The Early Lady Horns opened their softball season with a resounding 16-1 home victory over the Bangs Lady Dragons Monday.
The Lady Horns (1-0) scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning, two more in the second and four in the third to enforce the 15-run mercy rule after three frames. The lone run for the Lady Dragons (0-1) crossed the plate in the top of the third.
Early generated 11 hits – a Kyleigh Capterton solo home run; two doubles from Avery Stifflemire, who drove in five runs; a triple and a single from Jaime Lyon, who added an RBI; two singles and a pair of RBIs from Sunny Groom; a double and an RBI from Paizlee Scott; one single and one RBI apiece from Sydney Greaves and Adysn Atchley; and a single from Jamie Vassar.
In the circle, Atchley worked all three innings and yielded one run on one hit with five strikeouts and three walks.
For Bangs, Cheyenne Rush collected the lone hit while Adalynne Stephens drew a walk and scored on Mattisyn Taylor’s RBI sacrifice fly.
Rush also pitched for the Lady Dragons, allowing 11 hits while the Bangs defense committed five errors behind her.
