
Pictured are some of the entries for the 28th Annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit at the Depot Civic & Cultural Center as of 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Intake ended at noon, with judging by Nigerian/American Artist Austin Uzor to follow. Selected works will be announced at 4 p.m. Saturday, the rest are eligible for the Salon de Refuse, held at the Brownwood Art Center, 215 Fisk, with entry from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday. There is no charge to enter with Stars entry.
The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit will be open for viewing by the public at the Depot Civic & Cultural Center, at no charge, during the following hours:
Sunday, February 8th – Saturday, February 21.
- Sundays : 1pm-5pm
- Mondays – Fridays : 9am-6pm
Special artist demonstrations will also be held during the exhibit from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on February 12, 17, and 18. A special event, Family Day, will also be held on Saturday, February 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Each February the Brownwood Civic and Cultural Center hosts the annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit. This juried exhibit runs for two weeks and culminates with the presentation of over $7,000 in prizes. The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit was conceived in 1999 in order to showcase the newly restored Santa Fe Depot.
