First Thursday – Mixed Media Exhibit at BAA

Join the Brownwood Art Association (BAA) for First Thursday September 2nd from 5PM to 8PM for a Mixed Media Exhibit. First Thursdays are Visual Show Exhibits from the Members of the BAA and invited artists, with a reception and light refreshments to enjoy while walking through the exhibit space.

Artists can bring artwork to the Art Association (215 Fisk Ave, Brownwood, TX 76801) on Monday, August 30th between 3:30PM and 5:30PM or Tuesday, August 31st between 3:30PM and 5:30PM.

Mixed Media is not Collage…..Because they are the most interchangeable two mediums they are considered one in the same. Using two or more art forms, Mixed Media allows you to break away from all the boundaries between the different art forms. Watercolor, gouache, pen and ink, acrylic, charcoal, wet or dry media. Photography is a medium, as well.

Collage is from the French word “coller” meaning to glue, stick on, adhere materials to your sub-straight, like paper-craft, yarn works, beads. Assemblage and collage are similar, the difference is the 3D effect. Most assemblage works have 3 dimensional elements. Don’t be afraid to shed old ideas or Habits /take a risk and Let go ! Clear your thoughts and jump in!
