commissionercourtarticlepicBrown County Commissioners approved one subdivision and passed on two other subdivision plats for development at this time near Lake Brownwood Monday, June 6th.

After many lengthy discussions at previous commissioners’ court meetings, Richard Solis, representative of 3D Resorts (current owners of Feather Bay Development), was on the agenda again to discuss the consideration of approval for a new phase of Feather Bay Development, King’s Point Cove Unit I plat.  County Judge Ray West explained that new information was given to Brown County Surveyor Don King as well as the Brown County Water Improvement District; however, the information was not able to be reviewed by either King or BCWID.  Roy Pfingston, representing the original surveying firm, was also present for the discussion on the agenda.

Because the additional information had not been reviewed, County Judge Ray West stated that the matter would be rescheduled on the agenda once again after the review by BCWID and King.  West also said that it would be better to approve the matter when Larry Traweek, commissioner of that precinct, was present.

Another item that not approved at this time was the plat for The Lodges at Mountain View at Lake Brownwood.  This plat was not able to be approved because commissioners were unclear if the road accessing the property is a county road or not.   Once this is determined, then the approval of the plat can be considered at the next meeting of the court.

One property that did receive approval of a re-plat was Lot 2, Rolling Hills Estate, #2.  Robert Howard approached the court to divide the lot into two separate lots to be developed.  The lot is located on CR 594 on the north side of Lake Brownwood and is a lakefront property.  Each of the new lots is greater than one half acre and has been approved by Rita Thompson, Brown County septic and building permits director.  Howard stated that the lots both have water and utilities available and that their taxes are current.

In other matters on the agenda:

* Jan Brown, District Clerk, received approval to promote Anita Richardson to the Chief Deputy position in the District Clerk’s office and to provide a $2500 salary increase per year to Richardson.  The effective date approved for the promotion is June 1, 2011.

*Commissioners approved an Interlocal Agreement between Brown County and Lubbock County acting through the Regional Public Defender for capital cases.  This agreement states that Brown County would pay $24,000 in the event that a public defender has to be appointed for a capital murder case.  This agreement would become effective and in effect, keep the county from going into unrecoverable debt to provide a public defense attorney in a capital case.
