1:00pm:  Brownwood Police report that the cause of the early morning train derailment near the Truman Harlow overpass near Howard Payne is still under investigation; however the area is cleared for traffic both on roadways and railway.

Roadways were opened for normal traffic mid morning Wednesday according to Brownwood Police officials.  Railway traffic was also reopened with the help of Vulcan mines and BNSF crews who helped to move the rail cars off the track.  Four derailed cars remained on scene and will be removed in the next couple of days according to officials.

All four railway cars were gravel hauling units and reported to be empty at the time of the crash.  There were no injuries reported.

8:30am:  City of Brownwood and BNSF crews were working early this morning on a train derailment near the Truman Harlow Overpass.  Crews have blocked the roadway under the overpass while they work on the situation.

In the early morning hours, around 4:15am Brownwood Police Department announced that a train had derailed at the Truman Harlow overpass.  The incident is a non-toxic derailment involving several train cars.  Officials said the train was pulling gravel cars and that the roads in the area would be closed down for an indefinite amount of time.  Traffic under the Truman Harlow Overpass is shut down for an unknown amount of time and alternate routes should be utilized.
