MantosManuelEBrownwood Police responded to an early morning stabbing that resulted in one man being airlifted to Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene Wednesday, May 18, 2011.

According to BPD, the stabbing occurred in the 900 block of Sharp Street in Brownwood around 6:00am.  Officers discovered 21-year-old Seaver Ray Roper lying in the yard suffering from multiple stab wounds to his abdomen and upper body reported BPD Assistant Chief James Fuller. Roper was transported by Air Evac helicopter to Hendricks where he was listed in critical, but stable, condition.

Investigation at the scene revealed that Roper arrived at the residence during the early morning hours and confronted a former girlfriend and her current boyfriend, 17-year-old Manuel Mantos (pictured).  This confrontation turned physical, resulting in Roper’s injuries.

An arrest warrant was issued for Mantos by Justice of the Peace Bryan Thompson for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

At approximately 3:40pm Wednesday, officers with the Brownwood Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office approached a residence on CR 136 and located Mantos who was arrested without incident.  Bond is set at $100,000.
