Reminder: Gordon Wood Hall of Champions Banquet & 5K Run Saturday

gordonwoodThe Gordon Wood Hall of Champions will induct several former Brownwood Lions at 6pm on Saturday, April 30th at their annual induction ceremony and dinner at the Christian Life Center of the First United Methodist Church.

University of Texas Longhorns head football coach Mack Brown will be the keynote speaker at this year’s event when the Gordon Wood Hall of Champions induct Hut Allred, Gary Barron, Brad Butler, Jesse Smith and Ricky Stokes.

Tickets to the induction dinner are $40 each and are available at the Brownwood High School Athletic Office, Wendlee Broadcasting, KOXE-KBWD, the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, and Smith and Sharpe Insurance.

The Gordon Wood Hall of Champions will also hold their annual 5K run and 1.5-K walk fundraiser at 8 a.m. on April 30th kicking off at Gordon Wood Stadium.

Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group. Entry forms are available at local fitness centers, Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, or  email Mitch Moore at  mitchell.moore@brownwoodisd.org This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or calling (325) 201-0610. Entry fee is $20 in advance, and $25 that weekend. T-shirt size will be guaranteed for entries received by April 18.

Also, don’t forget to visit the The Gordon Wood Hall of Champions Museum located on the second floor of the Harvey House Building of the historic Brownwood Depot, 600 E. Depot Street.  Museum Tour hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Admission to the Museum is free, but donations are appreciated.
